THE INVENTION OF LYING (part one)

Share
Entertaining but not at it's best...

The Invention of Lying (USA, 2009) had potential, but it wasn't as much fun as it promised.

In a world where every one only tells the truth, Mark Bellinson (Ricky Gervais) could lie. It all starts when he has to get money from the bank. After fooling the bankers with a little lie about his account, he discovers the 'magic' of lying.

Since no one in this truth-world was used to people lying to them, they didn't suspect anything. So, everyone believes on whatever Mark says. In the story, he wants to be with Anna McDoogles (Jennifer Garner), but she thinks he is too ugly and that his bad genetics would spoil her perfect children.

After a while, Mark has to run fast the hospital because his mother is dying from a heart attack. After seeing her suffer, he starts comforting her, telling things about going to a better place, where everyone gets a mansion and everyone is happy.

As the "news" spread, he becomes famous and creates a complex story about what happens after you die. In it's core, he created... religion!

The movie is very funny and cool. It has some awesome scenes and I think it can go to your "going to watch next" list.

Not great, but I recommend.
