This movie is... marvelous! It tells the story of Klaatu, an alien who comes to Earth via a ball-like spaceship. He has a mission: save our planet. At first, what would you tell me about Klaatu's mission? He's trying to save us, right? He's trying to help us, right?
Wrong. He's not saving Earth for us, he's saving it FROM us... And how to do it? He'll destroy the destroyers - in that case, us.
As a remake of the classic from 1951, The Day the Earth Stood Still (USA, 2008) is a great movie experience. The type of experience you can only expect from this great cast/crew (including the director, Scott Derrickson). Keanu Reeves (Yes, Neo from The Matrix) is so fantastic the he made me believe he himself is a type of alien who came from the space.
Jennifer Connelly is also fantastic on the movie, playing Helen, the woman who shows Klaatu, how humanity kind can be... kind.
As a combination of great movies such as The Day After Tomorrow and 2012, this movie goes into the "Must Watch" list. The story is a touching experience and you should definitely check it out. I totally recommend.
